Organisational Area Community Health Care Organisation (CHO) Area 9, Dublin North, Dublin North Central, Dublin North West Mental Health Services. Details of Service St Vincents Hospital Fairview provides progressive and comprehensive Multidisciplinary Team, Mental Health services. These include Adult and Child and Adolescent Inpatients services, Adolescent and Adult Day Hospital services, Community Clinics, Outpatient and Community Residential services for the catchment area of Dublin North City. It is essential that these services operate seamlessly from the service users perspective. Reporting Relationship The post holder reports directly to the IT Manager and his or her nominee, and is responsible to the CEO. Purpose of the Post As a Junior IT Support Specialist at St Vincents Hospital Fairview, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical assistance and support to our hospital staff. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting basic technical issues, assisting in maintaining IT systems and infrastructure, and collaborating closely with the Lead IT Specialist to ensure the seamless operation of all IT-related functions within the hospital. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Respond to and resolve basic IT inquiries and issues from hospital staff, ensuring timely and effective support. Provide hands-on assistance with hardware and software installations, configurations, and updates. Assist in the setup and maintenance of user accounts, permissions, and access rights in various IT systems. Monitor and maintain the functionality of IT equipment, such as computers, printers, scanners, and networking devices. Collaborate with the Lead IT Specialist to identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies within the IT department. Assist in maintaining accurate records of IT inventory, including hardware, software licenses, and peripherals. Participate in the development and implementation of IT security measures and protocols. Provide technical training and guidance to hospital staff on the appropriate and secure use of IT resources. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving minor network connectivity issues. Stay up-to-date with emerging IT trends, tools, and technologies to contribute to the continuous improvement of IT services. Eligibility Criteria Qualifications and/ or experience Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Basic understanding of IT principles, hardware, software, and networking concepts. Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-oriented approach. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Prior experience in a technical support role is a plus. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) are advantageous. Tenure This appointment will be on the basis of a Fixed Term Contract for a period of 12 months. Remuneration The salary scale for the post 0558 GRADE IV (CLERICAL) (as at 01/06/24) is (pro rata): €33,756; €35,867; €36,715; €38,856; €40,817; €42,533; €44,194; €46,435; €48,063; €49,702; €51,221; €52,776 LSIs Working Week The standard working week is 21 hours per week (3 days). Annual Leave The annual leave associated with the post will be confirmed at appointment stage. Superannuation This is a pensionable position with St. Vincents Hospital Fairview. The successful candidate will upon appointment become a member of the appropriate pension scheme. Pension scheme membership will be notified within the contract of employment. Members of pre-existing pension schemes who transferred to St. Vincents Hospital Fairview on the 01st January 2005 pursuant to Section 60 of the Health Act 2004 are entitled to superannuation benefit terms under the SVHF Scheme which are no less favourable to those which they were entitled to at 31st December 2004. Probation Every appointment at St. Vincents Hospital Fairview shall be subject to a minimum probationary period of at six months. Pre-Employment Health Assessment Prior to commencing in this role a person will be required to attend a GP for a pre-employment medical check. Any person employed by the hospital must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Garda Vetting The hospital will carry out Garda Vetting on all new employees. An employee will not take up employment with the hospital until the Garda Vetting process has been completed and the hospital is satisfied that such an appointment does not pose a risk to clients, service users and employees. Work Permits/Visas Where relevant, offers of employment are made on a conditional basis - that where a work permit or visa is required, the candidate will produce satisfactory evidence of the relevant documents and it is the candidates responsibility to ensure that such documents remain valid for the duration of the contract of employment.
