XOCEAN is an ocean data company – we collect data for clients ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment.
However, we do this differently, instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed a marine robotic system known as an Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV).
Overview Responsible for build, maintenance and repair of all USV electronic components and equipment used in our vessels.
Main Duties & Responsibilities Electrical panel build & installation Conduct electrical maintenance on USVs Execution of FAT/SAT testing during commissioning Electrical design (power and communications) Compliance with, execution and promotion of Quality, Health and Safety standards on site at all times Managing and maintaining Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety standards Fault finding in mechanical and electrical systems Research & Development support on new USV technology On occasion, this role may involve Accompanying USV offshore on support boat during testing Being responsible for generator servicing Conducting general mechanical maintenance of USV's Monitoring workshop tooling and consumables levels and purchasing same, with approval from Supervisor Implementing, maintaining, managing and updating all standard operating procedures and processes appropriate to the role.
Being responsible for training other team members to the required standards, including coaching and mentoring of others Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience Fully Qualified Electrician Significant previous experience as an Electrical Technician Minimum 3 years' experience in Industrial/Control system wiring Hold full clean drivers' licence Ability to interpret technical drawings or Standard Operating Procedures Ability to adhere to strict health and safety guidelines Ability to work to a high standard Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team Ability to work under time pressure The successful candidate may be required to travel on occasion Desirable Experience PLC/HMI development experience Generator/Battery system experience Marine maintenance experience – hobby/industrial would be acceptable Off-shore qualifications i.e.
Powerboat licence, offshore survival, radio operators licence etc.
