Job Title: Debates and Schools Programme Officer

Reports to: Schools Programme Manager, Head of Global Citizenship

Terms: Permanent, Full time, Hybrid

Salary: Band 4 (45,535 – 52,040 EUR)

Requirements: Availability to work occasional unsocial hours and travel to in-person events across ROI/NI

About Concern: Established in 1968, Concern is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organisation, dedicated to the reduction of suffering and the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world's poorest countries.

Role Purpose: The Debates and Schools Programme Officer works within the Global Citizenship Schools Team to organise and coordinate the Concern Debates Programme and co-facilitate workshops and educational experiences.

Responsibilities: The Concern Schools Programme involves over 500 primary and post primary schools on an annual basis. Alongside colleagues on the Schools Team, the Debates and Schools Programme Officer will be responsible for:

Coordinating up to 60 post primary schools in each of the three rounds of the Concern Debates Online League Phase and Knock Out Phase Coordinating in-person rounds of Concern Debates including event management of the Quarter, Semi and All-Ireland Finals Building strong, professional relationships with teachers, ensuring they have all of the information and training required to serve as Concern Debates mentors Managing relationships with a pool of volunteer adjudicators, ensuring they have all of the information and training required for their role Contributing to the creation and delivery of in-person and online trainings for teachers, students and adjudicators taking part in the Concern Debates Programme Assisting in the development and creation of Global Citizenship Education resources, webinars and podcasts for the Schools Programme Supporting the Primary Schools Officer and Global Citizenship Education Schools Officer in their roles Collecting and analysing data on program participation, volunteer engagement and student outcomes Contributing to reporting on programme performance to inform program improvements and demonstrate impact Supporting the wider Global Citizenship Team with programme delivery Ensuring adherence to Concern's Child Safeguarding policy, GDPR requirements, Garda Vetting, as well as IDEA and Dóchas Codes Upholding and promoting Concern's values, including workplace equality, diversity and inclusion, and safeguarding values Participating in Concern's emergency response as required. Role Holder Requirements: A relevant third level qualification (e.g. education, international development, politics) Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently Ability to problem solve and respond flexibly to changing priorities Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Experience working as an effective and productive member of a team Experience delivering talks or workshops to young people aged 10-18 Experience producing educational materials or resources Interest or experience in global development or international affairs Active commitment to promoting diversity, equality and the interests of marginalised people Availability to work occasional unsocial hours and travel to in-person events Access to a reliable form of transport Project management skills (desirable) Experience delivering professional development to teachers and/or youth workers (desirable) Competencies: Candidates are expected to demonstrate abilities in the following priority competency areas:
